Cleaning your Make-up Brushes

I was doing my make up yesterday and found myself thinking, this isn't going on like it should. I thought about it for a moment and remembered it had been awhile since I have cleaned my brushes. Actually it has been more then awhile, it had been a month or two. Cleaning your brushes is so important, even if you are just using them on yourself. Lots of yucky thugs can build up like oil, bacteria and excess product. All things that will affect your brush and the way your make up will look. If you have spent the money on good quality brushes you need to take care of them in order for them to last!

So I pulled out my brush cleaner and started to give them a good clean. I thought I would share with you guys in case you find yourself in a situation.

1- Start off with a great brush cleaner ( I love Jane Iredels) and warm water.
2- Take one brush at a time and get it wet and swirl it around in your palm. You will see all the product that was built up in your brush coming out as you do this! Make sure you wash the handle of the brush as well as germs build up here too
3- Give the brush a good rinse (You want the water to be clear)
4- On natural hair brushes I will condition the hairs with hair conditioner, rinse thoroughly
5- Dry your brush. Try and get as much water out of the brush as you can. You don't want the brush to sit saturated with water as it will break down the glue that holds the hair in.
6-Let your brushes air dry on a towel overnight (never stand your brushes up to dry)

When you go to apply your make up next your brushes will smell amazing and your product will go on as it should!

How long have you been with Casbah?
Almost 2 years.

What is your role at the Spa?
I am one of the receptionist's.

You get to see a lot of the products as they're coming in…any items you're excited about?
My favourite product right now is the Vanilla Latte Tinted Moisturizer from Eminence!

What's your favourite part of the job?
Witnessing the transformation of guests from check in to check out. Guests arrive at the spa rushed and stressed, have their spa service and float out the door refreshed and happy. It's gratifying, even though I do not perform the service, I play a part organizing their blissful experience.

The Signature Facial!

What is your favourite thing to do on a Sunday afternoon?
Going to a movie with my son.

Thanks so much Nora!

Some of my skincare faves!

One of the best advantages of working at a spa is that you get to hear the inside track on everything... and from the experts too! This has definitely come in handy more than a few times.

I came in to the spa world really not knowing a thing. And yes, I am one of those girls who would use soap and water to wash her face... GASP! But now the shame has gone and I've been introduced to an amazing, organic world;) To be exact, an Eminence Organics World. I think I was one of the few people who hadn't heard about it yet. But now that I know, I'm never going back!

In case you were like me, I'll give you a quick run down. Eminence was started out of Hungary (famous for their skin care techniques), with headquarters right here in Vancouver and internationally renowned. Organic skincare at its finest. You literally could eat it up... but I wouldn't recommend that;) And everything smells heavenly (imagine moisturizers called rosehip whip and rich black perlette grape)! I have super sensitive skin and the change from the products was immediate. Another reason I love the spa... when you go in for the Signature Facial you really are in for a treat! They will custom the products to the needs of your skin. So before you load up on what you think you want, you can actually try it first! Plus Casbah carries the entire Eminence line, so good pickings!

I hope you'll stop by and let the Casbah gals work their magic on you too:) Remember... a new year, a new you!

A New Year, New You!

The holidays are over and you have the dehydrated skin, sore throat, extra 5 pounds, and general malaise to prove it. You need a spa day. Don't believe me? Here are some very convincing arguments to start the new year with a new you!

Detox
Since lifting a fork to your mouth doesn't count as activity, you likely haven't done much in the way of exercise this Christmas. Believe it or not, massaging your muscles is in fact a great way to exercise them, while also ridding your blood of toxins. Casbah is also equipped with a range of facials that will detox, deep clean, purify, calm, and tighten your skin.

Increase Circulation
Between the appetizer trays and mega-meals, your digestive system has just taken a beating. Even those with dietary restrictions tend to bend the rules over the holidays out of politeness and gluttony. Hot water therapies and massage treatments will increase your circulation and help your digestive system get back on track.

Moisturize
You've been consuming alcohol in overheated rooms and shovelling snow in the cold, so at this point, your skin's moisture is essentially non-existent. Water therapies like our steam room will directly enhance your skin's moisture and thanks to the yummy fruits and flavoured waters up for grabs all around Casbah's rest areas, you can nourish from the inside out, as well.

Erase Sleepless Nights
If you have a Santa-obsessed little one, then you may have been up before the crack of dawn on Christmas morning. One of our most popular treatments at Casbah is our Signature Facial. This facial begins with a personalized consultation to target your skin's needs and concerns, and is followed by a relaxing massage of the back to ease all traces of tension and sleepless nights!

You Deserve It
Holidays—what holiday? You've been cooking, cleaning, wrapping, packing, hosting, and stressing over every last detail. Remember you? Yeah, you! Take a load off. The Universal Contour Wrap is an excellent way to lose a guaranteed 6 inches and clean your body of toxins… and it happens to be on special this week! Get a free Eurowave Treatment when you book your wrap. A perfect start to feeling good:)

Have your say! What's your biggest beauty complaint post-holidays?
