MEET & GREET

How long have you been with Casbah?
A little bit over two and a half years.

What is your role at the Spa?
I am an esthetician.

I know you do a lot of Makeup Applications too... any trends coming up you can tell us about?
Personally, I still love the trend of a bold lip with simple eye makeup. Its classy, and with the right lip shade can look good on anyone.

What's the best makeup tip you have?
The best make up weapon you can have in your bag is a good crease brush. It does the work for you. It blends your eye makeup so beautifully and its easy enough to use that even someone who's new to makeup can make their eyes look like they were done by a professional.

What's your favourite part of the job?
The results. It makes me feel so good when I can help someone with the concerns of their skin or help improve on the look of their nails. I like being able to help, and make my client feel great when they walk out of the spa.

What is your favourite service at the spa?
I love all of our services but my personal favourite would have to be a pedicure. Your feet always look so great afterwards and who doesn't love a great foot massage!

What is your favourite thing to do on a Sunday afternoon?
After a week of work I enjoy a really nice quiet afternoon at home, just laying on the couch watching some tv and catching up with girl friends.

Thanks Vicki!

Going bare, down there.

With Valentines Day rapidly approaching you may be thinking of trying something to spice things up a little.

I know it might be intimidating but Brazilian waxes are more popular now then ever, and are an easy way to add some heat. To ease your nerves here is a quick rundown of the process.

First your going to have to strip down, but don't worry you are always covered with a towel. Then they spread wax on with a wooden applicator in small sections at a time. Then while holding the skin taut the waxer zips the hair off. Many ask, "Does it hurt?". I always say it depends on your pain tolerance but it is a very temporary pain.

Women are not the only ones going bare down there. The boyzilian is all the rage with men who are maticulate groomers. Superstars like David Beckham, Cristiano Ronaldo and Kellan Lutz all sporting the clean look. Did we mention it makes your manhood look bigger?

What do you think, Would you want your man to sport a boyzilian?

Cleaning your Make-up Brushes

I was doing my make up yesterday and found myself thinking, this isn't going on like it should. I thought about it for a moment and remembered it had been awhile since I have cleaned my brushes. Actually it has been more then awhile, it had been a month or two. Cleaning your brushes is so important, even if you are just using them on yourself. Lots of yucky thugs can build up like oil, bacteria and excess product. All things that will affect your brush and the way your make up will look. If you have spent the money on good quality brushes you need to take care of them in order for them to last!

So I pulled out my brush cleaner and started to give them a good clean. I thought I would share with you guys in case you find yourself in a situation.

1- Start off with a great brush cleaner ( I love Jane Iredels) and warm water.
2- Take one brush at a time and get it wet and swirl it around in your palm. You will see all the product that was built up in your brush coming out as you do this! Make sure you wash the handle of the brush as well as germs build up here too
3- Give the brush a good rinse (You want the water to be clear)
4- On natural hair brushes I will condition the hairs with hair conditioner, rinse thoroughly
5- Dry your brush. Try and get as much water out of the brush as you can. You don't want the brush to sit saturated with water as it will break down the glue that holds the hair in.
6-Let your brushes air dry on a towel overnight (never stand your brushes up to dry)

When you go to apply your make up next your brushes will smell amazing and your product will go on as it should!

Some of my skincare faves!

One of the best advantages of working at a spa is that you get to hear the inside track on everything... and from the experts too! This has definitely come in handy more than a few times.

I came in to the spa world really not knowing a thing. And yes, I am one of those girls who would use soap and water to wash her face... GASP! But now the shame has gone and I've been introduced to an amazing, organic world;) To be exact, an Eminence Organics World. I think I was one of the few people who hadn't heard about it yet. But now that I know, I'm never going back!

In case you were like me, I'll give you a quick run down. Eminence was started out of Hungary (famous for their skin care techniques), with headquarters right here in Vancouver and internationally renowned. Organic skincare at its finest. You literally could eat it up... but I wouldn't recommend that;) And everything smells heavenly (imagine moisturizers called rosehip whip and rich black perlette grape)! I have super sensitive skin and the change from the products was immediate. Another reason I love the spa... when you go in for the Signature Facial you really are in for a treat! They will custom the products to the needs of your skin. So before you load up on what you think you want, you can actually try it first! Plus Casbah carries the entire Eminence line, so good pickings!

I hope you'll stop by and let the Casbah gals work their magic on you too:) Remember... a new year, a new you!
